ok... to sit down this whole debate over conferences and to educate you washington football wannabes that defend some beat a$$ conferences like the big 12 or the pac 10: ESPN.com - NCF - Who's bowl eligible
as i see it, the toughest conferences this year are the acc and the big 10. i'd side with the acc to edge out between the two since iowa turned out to be a bit of a downer this year.
in other news, the game is this saturday. i'm heart has been pumping blue.

...if you're talking depth of quality teams in a conference...i'd have to say the acc and bigten are decent, though i'd pick the sec with the best quality depth...acc next...then bigten(eleven)...but taking the top tier teams in each conference, i would say the pac-10 has an argument that their best is as good as any other conference's best...and honestly, having watched many bigten games here, i have to say that the best in the bigten are not as good as the best in other conferences...
...usc and texas right now are the best of the best...i don't think anyone is close...eventhough there aren't as many good teams in the pac10 and big12...doesn't mean they won't lose before the end...but they are the best...after that its everyone else mixed together...
...as for osu v. um...i'll have to take michigan to win now...and state to beat pennstate resulting in michigan winning the bigten and getting a bcs bowl bid...why...because its what i don't want to happen...
i used bowl eligibility b/c it's a rough approximation of conference quality if you pit teams head to head right down the line. sure texas and usc are great, but the big 12 and pac 10 is simply top heavy. sure you'll give up the top two games, but then the rest of the way, they'll be hurt'n.
now... as for the sec, you do have 6 great teams: lsu, bama, auburn, georgia, florida and south carolina, but i'd say that everything below georiga is overrated. there, i said it. a lot of things will be answered in the next few weeks as the acc and sec teams start matching up across their states. heh. go rivalry week(s).
best time being a sports fan right now.
