please... just cus he's annoying to a team doesn't mean he sucks at football. fan polls are just dumb. t.o.'s star is not falling. if anything, he's playing the name game and getting free press.
philly knew what they were getting. a player that demands excellence from his team, demands a championship contender and demands $. t.o. is the modern sponsor-endorsing athelete. don't hate the player, hate the game. ad infinum.

...philly knew what they were getting...at the same time t.o. knew the contract he was signing wasn't as good as it could've been...the union even advised him not to...but he wanted philly...also...the only thing he demands is $...he already has a team that is one of the best in the league...and not to mention, his contract isn't really that bad money-wise...overall for wr's, behind moss and harrison who you can argue are better wr's than t.o....but he still is a great player...anyhow...good for non-eagles fans...
...also...football season is fantastic...harrington was 9 - 9 for 100yds in the first preseason game...just preseason...but a good start anyhow...
and san fran won! omfg.
the article wasn't talking about the fall of the eagles.. it stated the owen's star is falling... the definition of star is subjective, but the fundamentals are there: elite player at position (top 3-5), newsmaker (for better or worse), key player on team (last year speaks for itself).
let's say i start working at a company for average pay, and i provably contributed to a huge winfall for them in my first year. is it wrong for me to ask for compensation that is representative of my achievements?
and where is t.o. lacking as a wideout? he's proven that he'll give more than what he's got (superbowl). as a man? he's a guy that's trying to go get his... strike when the iron's hot. general guy? are you saying he's a chick?
stop defending the owners. they're rich enough already, and should share more of the team profits with the players that risk their bodies every year. to that end, we're talking about professional sports. people playing sports b/c they're getting paid. we'd all like to think that all pro athletes play for the love of the game, but that generally isn't the case... look at all the players unions.
...bottom line...he is a top five wr...and he is being paid like a top five wr...third largest contract of all wr's in the league...
...key player last year, yes...necessary last year, arguable...and most of all...his superbowl performance was overrated if you really look back on it...not that it wasn't a great performance...he played really well...but really, we don't know just how bad the injury was...we just know what a typical recovery time was for that kind of injury...but then his body is different and he is a physical specimen...so who knows...also...he played the majority of the game against single coverage by an undrafted rookie randall gay and a patriots defense that gave him every underneath pass...he made a few good runs after catch of course...but when the defense is playing everything in front of them, there's going to be a few good runs...and...after the game...the first thing he says in interview isn't that he's disappointed that they lost...but rather that nobody, except him, thought that he could come back...so he showed everybody...
...personally...i like t.o. because he's just so incredibly full of himself...its entertaining...and at the end of the day, its all just entertainment...but really...there is no basis for him demanding a new contract...
...and football season destroys...
