so... the lcd on my cell phone is dying. my phone works, but i have no clue what number i dialed or who's calling me. i started looking around at other cell phones and service providers because sometimes, the rebates on switching services pays for the early cancellation fee that sprint would charge. i actually found a really great deal on the sony t637 fone (color lcd, camera, etc.) with at&t/cingular where they would give me the phone for free AND pay me $200 which would cover my termination cost, activation fee and leave a little for pocket change. looked like a pretty sweet deal.
i decided to give sprint a chance to keep my business, so i went into the sprint store and told them that my lcd is broken. the rep said that they'd replace my phone for free. i kept asking if i would have to sign any more contracts or if there were transfer/activation charges or any other catches. she said that there are no catches; they'd replace my phone gratis, no strings attached. this suited me fine since i don't mind sticking w/ sprint until next june when my agreement would expire naturally. i get to keep my phone and i don't have to go through the ordeal of switching providers and moving my number, etc.
i like good customer service. no other point to this story beyond this.... :D
