crap. nothing bothers me like having a computer problem. my linux box's video card is about to die soon. it's overheating, so i jerry-rigged this fan assembly to cool it off better (the video card came with just a heat sink, no fan). so far, it's holding up, but the thing can die on me at any given time. i stuck these huge screws through the rows of the fins on the heatsink, but the screw heads protrude far enough to catch the spinning blades of the fan. if that happens, it might short out my power supply, which could blow up my entire computer.

so... i'm looking to upgrade my video card from my gaming box to a
radeon 9800pro 128mb. it's like $224...

i have to see about that tax return.
